My H1B COE (Change of Employer) was denied recently. This has given me a chance to be back in Pune after 8 years and work from here. In the mean time my employer is trying to get H1B visa back via consular processing.
I am in Pune from last 15 days, here are some of the very evident changes I have observed:
Running Traffic Signals: Back in 2010-2011 people would not run red lights as often as they do now. People now run red lights as soon as the traffic from other direction lightens. I observed an increase in manual management of traffic. Traffic signals mean almost nothing now.
More women in workforce: Role of women in workforce has increased dramatically. Women are running everything from departmental stores, hospitals, fast food chains, policing, etc. Even in field of Information Technology from what I observed, now more than 50% workforce is of female gender. Back in 2010-2011, I would say around 20%-30% employees in IT were female.
Public Transport: Public transport doesn’t show much improvement. May be once Pune metro is ready, it might be a different story. Uber and Ola has been lot of help in terms of transportation.
Kharadi: Kharadi area has changed a lot, EON IT park has totally uplifted the area. It has also got a beautiful skyline now and more development is in progress.
Magarpatta: Magarpatta area has got another uplift from Seasons mall. Amanora Mall had already been there for a while.
